From Matra Defense, which he joined at 22 years old, to the creation of his aviation consulting company, he held at EADS key positions in the field of defense and aviation, most notably in the fields of international development, state of the art technology and strategy.

In the 1980s, Jean-Paul Gut climbed the ranks at Matra Defense, where he left his mark in the fields of exporting marketing and international development. In the 1990s, he was responsible for all the international business of Matra Defense Space and Matra Bae Dynamics. Jean-Paul Gut then become responsible for operations within Lagardère, the holding company of Matra, where he was simultaneously Director of International Operations and State of the Art Technology sectors as well as adviser to the president of the group.
In 2000, during the merge between Matra Défense and Aerospatiale, Jean-Paul Gut became Chairman of Aerospatiale Matra Lagardère International and Managing Director responsible for the defense and space transportation of Aerospatiale Matra, one of the three companies founded by EADS.
Jean-Paul Gut became a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of EADS, then took head of EADS International. In 2006 he was appointed as the general manager of marketing, international and strategy of EADS. In 2007 Jean-Paul Gut took charge of LAGARDERE UK.
After spending over 25 years in the major European aerospace groups, Jean-Paul Gut founded the Armat Group in London in 2008, an investment fund specializing in private equity, real estate and asset finance.
The Armat group invests in small and medium enterprises in many sectors: defense, media, sports, telecommunications, luxury and education.
The objective is to support these companies in the medium term by opening new markets and consolidating their international expansion.
